Bacterial control proceduresEvery day, our machines are cleaned, washed, rinsed, and sanitized. All bags used to package meat are sanitized before they’re filled.Food is ordered and processed promptly to minimize time out of temperature control, so it’s frozen and ready for use as quickly as possible. Our team is trained on cleanliness standards, and we take time to educate every employee on safe handling practices and how bacteria can grow when food isn’t handled properly. We also added two new pieces of equipment: a sanitizer system and a commercial steam cleaner. Common areas like the break room and bathrooms (and other high-traffic areas) are misted with sanitizer daily. The steam cleaner helps us reach tight spots and small crevices that are hard to clean thoroughly by hand.We source human-grade ingredients, and our products are tested for bacteria before they reach us.This page is here to reassure anyone who has questions about the quality and handling standards at Raw Energy. We work hard to deliver a clean, consistently handled product—without cutting corners on price, delivery, packaging, processing, or blend availability. If you ever want to see how we do things or have questions, we’re happy to walk you through our process.
Comment: There is no apparent bacterial reduction on the main source of pathogens, the raw meat. And verification testing is not mentioned. One can say its clean, but how do you know.

FDA Advisory: Do Not Feed Eight Lots of Raaw Energy Dog Food Due to Contamination with Harmful Bacteria
As of May 2026, the number of recalled lots has risen to more than 180.
UPDATE
May 22, 2026: Raaw Energy issued a press release announcing that it is recalling all its dog food products manufactured between 7/17/25 and 12/23/25 and one lot from 3/31/26. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture collected and tested four samples of dog food made during this time period. All four samples of dog food tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
The FDA has added a new table below to list all products and lots (date codes) made during the recall timeframe.
Since the original issuance of this advisory in January 2026, the FDA has received additional consumer complaints of illness in animals who have consumed recalled product.
February 6, 2026: Further New Jersey Department of Agriculture laboratory analysis determined that for the sample of Beef Chicken Tripe Medley dog food (date code 12.23.25) containing Listeria monocytogenes and E. coli, the E. coli is not a pathogenic strain. However, the FDA continues to recommend that consumers do not feed the recalled products to their pets and monitor them for any signs of illness.
The advisory below has been modified to remove discussion of pathogenic strains of E. coli.

Fast Facts
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is cautioning pet owners that eight samples of Raaw Energy dog food have tested positive for one or more types of pathogenic (harmful) bacteria, specifically: Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes), Salmonella, and Campylobacter jejuni. See the “Product Information” section of this advisory for details on affected date codes and flavors of Raaw Energy dog food.
Testing occurred as part of follow-up on a consumer complaint submitted to the Connecticut Department of Agriculture (CTDA) about a dog illness. CTDA and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture collected and tested a total of eight unopened product samples, all of which tested positive for pathogenic bacteria.
Raaw Energy dog food is ordered online and picked up in person by customers. Products are sold frozen and packaged in 2-pound or 5-pound clear plastic tubes sealed on each end with a metal clip. Products are sold in brown cardboard boxes containing 10 plastic tubes.
The FDA recommended Raaw Energy recall the eight lots due to contamination with pathogenic bacteria. To date, the firm has not initiated an adequate recall of affected products. Consumers who have purchased Raaw Energy dog food should check packaging for the affected date codes prior to feeding to pets.
If consumers have any pet food on the list below, they are advised to throw it away in a secure container. Do not feed it to pets. Do not donate the food. Clean and disinfect all pet supplies and surfaces that have had contact with the food or pet.
L. monocytogenes, Salmonella, and Campylobacter can affect both people and animals. People with symptoms of Salmonella, L. monocytogenes, or Campylobacter infection should consult their health care providers. Consult a veterinarian if your pet has symptoms of Salmonella, L. monocytogenes, or Campylobacter infection. See symptom information below.

Company Announcement
Raaw Energy is voluntarily notifying the public of a recall involving products produced between 7/17/25 and 12/23/25 due to possible Listeria contamination. Another batch date is 3.31.26 Beef and Turkey Medley. While not all products from this period tested positive, this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution. Some products produced during this timeframe were not tested, and bacterial presence was identified during the same period. As a result, products manufactured within these dates could possibly be affected.
Consumers are advised not to use, sell, or consume any affected product. Please discard these items immediately to help reduce the risk of illness.
Tested foods: Highlighted below. * Bold print production dates.
Listeria monocytogenes can be exposed to the pathogen through consumption of contaminated food. People can be exposed to this pathogen through multiple routes such as contact with surfaces that have touched contaminated food, such as bowls, utensils, or countertops. Risk of human illness from Listeria monocytogenes contaminated pet food increases if people do not thoroughly wash their hands after handling the food or having contact with their pet, or by not thoroughly cleaning contaminated surfaces.
Infected humans may display symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, fever, and lethargy. Severe infections can result in meningitis, abortion, and death. Pets exposed to contaminated food can be infected without showing symptoms. Infected pets, even if they do not show symptoms, can act as carriers and transfer Listeria monocytogenes through their feces and saliva.
People infected with Listeria monocytogenes may experience some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, aches, fever and diarrhea. Severe Listeria monocytogenes infections can spread through the bloodstream to the nervous system (including the brain), resulting in meningitis and other potentially fatal illnesses. Pregnant women are especially susceptible to Listeria infection, which can result in miscarriage. The young, the elderly, and people with weak immune systems are also vulnerable to infection.
Food is ordered via the firm’s website and picked up in person by customers. Products were distributed to customers in CT, DE, MA, MD, NH, NJ, NY, PA, and VA.
The products are packaged in either 2-pound or 5-pound clear plastic tubes sealed on each end with a metal clip. Products are sold frozen in brown cardboard boxes containing 5 to 20 clear plastic tubes. The cardboard boxes have white stick-on labels identifying the product flavor, ingredients, and date code. See product list below.
Based on testing conducted on samples collected by New Jersey Department of Agriculture, some finished products tested positive and tested negative to contain Listeria monocytogenes. Not all the food was tested.
For your safety, please treat these products as potentially contaminated. We ask that you dispose of them in a secure manner so they cannot be accessed by people or animals.

As part of this process, we will be resurfacing key areas to make them smoother, more sanitary, and easier to clean. All drains and sewer lines will be thoroughly cleaned and treated, and additional cleaning efforts will be made on the evaporators.
We will be strengthening our quality control measures.
We will be purchasing a pathogen detection system and testing every batch to help ensure the safety and quality of our products.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As a small business, we are committed to doing the right thing and correct any issues.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we focus on making these improvements and ensuring that our products meet the standards our customers expect and deserve.
